A dust collection reducer is a fitting that joins one duct size to a smaller or larger one. Most shop runs mix pipe sizes. Your dust collector might use 4 inch pipe while your tool port is 2.5 inch. A reducer steps the air from one size to the other so the two ends line up and the suction stays strong.
The taper inside each reducer keeps the air moving in a smooth path. That cuts turbulence and pressure loss, so more dust gets pulled into the bin and less of it floats back into your shop air. Cleaner air means you breathe easier and clean up less at the end of the day.

What is a dust collection reducer?+
A dust collection reducer is a fitting that joins one duct size to a smaller or larger one. It steps the air from a big pipe down to a small one, or the other way, so your hose and tool ports line up and the air keeps moving.
Can one reducer work as both a reducer and an expander?+
Yes. The same part reduces or expands. Just flip it around. The large end goes on the big pipe and the small end goes on the small pipe, so you only need to buy one part for the job.
What size dust collection reducer do I need?+

Will a 4 inch to 2.5 inch reducer fit my shop vac hose?+
It fits standard 4 inch and 2.5 inch dust collection duct. A shop vac hose is not the same thing as duct, and the sizes are named differently, so a hose adapter is usually the right part for a hose end.
Do these reducers need clamps or tape?+
No. Each end is a friction fit. It holds without clamps or tape. The part is printed to match the pipe diameter, so it grips on its own and you can pull it apart when you want to change your setup.
