Festool Kapex KS120 Miter Saw Dust Port Size and Shop Vac Adapter
The Festool Kapex KS 120 is a sliding compound miter saw. It is known for clean cuts and strong dust pickup right at the blade. Even so, the port only fits Festool hoses out of the box, so hooking up a standard shop vac takes the right adapter.
The Kapex uses Festool's D27/D36 connection. That means a 27 mm hose fits inside the port and a 36 mm hose fits over the cuff. Our PETG adapter plugs into the 27 mm port and steps it to any standard shop vac or dust extractor hose. No tape. No clamps.

Festool Kapex KS120 Dust Port Size: D27/D36 Connection
The Kapex uses Festool's D27/D36 Cleantec connection. The 27 mm figure is the inside of the port, where a 27 mm hose or our adapter plugs in. The 36 mm figure is the outer cuff, where a 36 mm hose slips over the outside.
This is a Festool-only size out of the box. A 2-1/2 inch shop vac hose is far too big and a 1-1/4 inch hose does not seal right. That size gap is why you cannot just push a shop vac hose onto the saw.
A GulpDust adapter fits the 27 mm port on one end and your bigger vac hose on the other end, so you get a tight seal and full suction without buying the pricey Festool hose.
How to Connect a Shop Vac to the Festool Kapex KS120
Clear any dust out of the rear port first. A clean port gives the best grip.
Push the small end of the PETG adapter into the 27 mm port. It is a friction fit, so it holds with a firm press. Then press your shop vac or dust extractor hose onto the wide end.
Turn the vac on before you cut. The Kapex already pulls dust well at the blade, and a steady vac at the port catches what the guard throws off.
Why Miter Saws Need Good Dust Collection
A miter saw sprays a fan of dust and chips out the back with every cut. The Kapex catches more than most saws, but the fine dust that gets past still lands on the bench and floats in the air.
Pulling the dust at the port keeps your bench and floor clear and keeps fine dust out of your lungs. A clean work area also means fewer chips under your stock, so your cuts sit flat and true.
For the best result, match the adapter to the 27 mm port and run a steady vac. Any shop vac with the right adapter does the main job.
Festool KS120 Dust Collection FAQ
What size is the dust port on the Festool Kapex KS120?+
It uses Festool's D27/D36 connection. That is 27 mm on the inside and 36 mm over the outer cuff. It is a round port at the rear. Our adapter plugs into the 27 mm inlet.
Does the Festool Kapex KS120 work with a regular shop vac?+
Yes, with an adapter. The port is a Festool 27 mm size, and most shop vac hoses are 1-7/8 inch or 2-1/2 inch, which is much bigger. The GulpDust PETG adapter fits the saw port on one end and your vac hose on the other.
Do I need to buy the Festool hose for the Kapex?+
No. The Festool hose fits the D27/D36 port, but it costs a lot. Our adapter lets you use a standard shop vac hose you already own and still get a tight seal at the 27 mm port.
Do I need clamps to attach the adapter?+
No. The adapter is a friction fit. You press it into the port and it holds. The vac hose end works the same way.
Can I print this adapter myself?+
Yes. You can buy the printed PETG part shipped from the US, or download the STL file and print it at home. We suggest PETG with 3 walls and 25 percent infill.
