Craftsman V20 tools are made by Stanley Black and Decker, the same parent company as DeWalt and Black+Decker. The V20 platform sits on the 1-1/4 in. port hub, the same one as Milwaukee M18, DeWalt 20V MAX and Ryobi ONE+.
This is good news. It means the same adapter that works for Milwaukee or DeWalt tools also works for Craftsman V20 tools at the tool end.
Craftsman V20 Tools With Dust Ports
| Model | Tool |
|---|---|
| CMCS520B | V20 MAX Circular Saw 7-1/4" |
| CMCS370B | V20 Jigsaw |
| CMEW230B | V20 Sheet Sander |
| CMEW231B | V20 Random Orbit Sander |
All four land on the 1-1/4 in. port hub. One adapter covers the whole list.
What Adapter You Need
For any Craftsman V20 tool and a standard US shop vac with a 1-7/8 inch hose:
You need a 32mm to 47.6mm adapter. This is the same adapter used for Milwaukee M18, DeWalt 20V MAX, and Ryobi ONE+ tools.
If you own multiple brands of tools, you can use one 32mm adapter for all of them with a standard 1-7/8 inch shop vac. The adapter does not care which brand the tool is, only the port diameter.
Battery Cross-Compatibility
Craftsman V20 batteries work in Black+Decker 20V MAX tools and vice versa. Both platforms share the same 20V MAX slide-pack battery design. This cross-compatibility extends to the tool ports: both land on the 1-1/4 in. port hub, so the same adapter covers both brands.
DeWalt 20V MAX batteries are NOT cross-compatible with Craftsman V20 or Black+Decker 20V MAX batteries, even though the voltage is the same. The battery contacts are different. But the port sizes are the same, so the same adapter works at the dust connection.
Craftsman and Ridgid Shop Vacs
Craftsman also makes shop vacs. Craftsman shop vacs use 1-7/8 inch hoses on most models. If you have a Craftsman vac and Craftsman tools, you still need the standard adapter at the tool port. The hose end connects to the vac directly.
Craftsman shop vacs are sold at Lowe's. Their filter quality ranges from standard paper to HEPA depending on the model. Look for the HEPA option for any sanding work.
