DeWalt 20V MAX is one of the most popular cordless platforms in North America. It covers drills, saws, sanders, routers, and multi-tools. Many of these tools have a dust port. Getting that dust into a shop vac or dust extractor is the goal.
Tool makers change port sizes between models, and sometimes within one line. Miter saws are a different case again, because the dust chute on a miter saw is built for a bag. Do not trust a chart. Measure the port on the tool you own.
Measure Your DeWalt Tool
- Look at the dust port. Is it an opening, or a stub?
- If it is an opening, measure across the inside with calipers or a ruler. If it is a stub, measure across the outside.
- Measure the end of your hose the same way.

Miter Saws
A miter saw dust chute is usually larger than a hand tool port, so do not reuse a part made for a sander. This is why a standard shop vac hose does not connect to a miter saw without an adapter. Measure the chute on your saw and we print the part that bridges it to your hose.
Connecting to a Dust Extractor
Many owners upgrade to a Festool extractor for better filtration. The extractor hose end is not the same as a shop vac hose end. Measure the end of the extractor hose and your tool port. We print the adapter between those two numbers.
Connecting to a Shop Vac
A small shop vac hose may push onto a hand tool port, but the fit is often loose. A loose fit leaks air and costs you suction. If you have a larger shop vac with a bigger hose, you will need a part that steps up from the tool port to the hose. Measure both ends and the part is printed to them.
Cordless Miter Saws and Larger Saws
Larger cordless saws are bigger machines with their own dust chutes. Do not assume the port matches a smaller tool from the same line. Measure it. From the saw you can run to a shop vac hose or step up to a 4-inch main duct.
Best Vacuum Match for DeWalt Tools
For most hand tools, a 6 to 12 gallon shop vac with a HEPA filter bag works well. Run the hose at the shortest practical length. Keep the filter clean. Replace the filter bag before it is full.
For miter saw dust collection, a dedicated dust collector with a 4-inch hose and a sawdust bag offers better capacity. Shop vacs fill fast when cutting hardwood or framing lumber.
