Milwaukee M18 FUEL is the most complete cordless tool ecosystem in the US market. The dust collection integration goes further than most people realize. Here is how the whole system connects.
M18 FUEL Tool Dust Ports (All 32mm)
Every M18 FUEL portable tool uses a 32mm outer-diameter dust port. This consistency is intentional. You can buy one adapter and use it across the entire M18 FUEL lineup.
| Tool | Model | Port OD |
|---|---|---|
| Circular Saw 7-1/4" | 2731-20, 2732-20 | 32mm |
| Track Saw | 2831-20 | 32mm |
| Jigsaw (barrel grip) | 2737-20 | 32mm |
| Random Orbit Sander 5" | 2648-20 | 32mm |
| Multi-Surface Sander | 2831-20 | 32mm |
| Plunge Router | 2838-20 | 32mm |
| Oscillating Multi-Tool | 2836-20 | 32mm |
| Reciprocating Saw | 2721-20 | 32mm |
M18 FUEL Shop Vacs
Milwaukee makes four M18 FUEL shop vacs. All use the same 1-7/8 inch (47.6mm) hose standard:
- 0882-20: 2 gallon compact, best for portable jobsite use
- 0910-20: 6 gallon, standard capacity for shop sessions
- 0920-20: 9 gallon, dual battery, extended sessions
- 0960-20: PACKOUT module, integrates with PACKOUT storage system
All four vacs use the same 1-7/8 inch hose. You need a 32mm to 47.6mm adapter to connect any M18 FUEL tool to any M18 FUEL vac.
The PACKOUT System Integration
The M18 FUEL 0960-20 is a PACKOUT-compatible shop vac. It fits on a standard PACKOUT base and stacks with PACKOUT tool boxes and organizers. If you use the PACKOUT system for tool storage, this vac integrates directly into that setup.
The 0960-20 uses the same 1-7/8 inch hose as the other M18 FUEL vacs. The same 32mm to 47.6mm adapter applies.
The Simplest M18 Dust Setup
For a portable M18 FUEL setup with any single-battery vac:
- Get one 32mm to 47.6mm adapter
- Connect any M18 FUEL tool to the M18 FUEL 0882-20 (or 0910-20) using the adapter
- Charge both the tool battery and the vac battery on the same M18 FUEL charger
One adapter covers every M18 FUEL tool you own. If you add a new M18 FUEL tool, the same adapter fits. The only time you need a different adapter is if you switch to a different shop vac brand or connect to a large 2-1/2 inch hose vac.
Using a Standard Shop Vac Instead of an M18 FUEL Vac
You do not need an M18 FUEL vac to connect M18 FUEL tools. Any standard shop vac with a 1-7/8 inch hose works with the same 32mm to 47.6mm adapter.
The advantages of the M18 FUEL vac are battery compatibility and the matching cordless setup. The advantages of a standard corded shop vac are unlimited runtime, lower cost, and usually more capacity. Choose based on whether cordless portability or capacity matters more for your work.
Milwaukee M18 FUEL vs Standard Shop Vac: Suction Comparison
The 0882-20 has about 70 CFM of airflow. A standard 6-amp Ridgid shop vac has about 80 to 90 CFM. The M18 FUEL vac is slightly weaker than a mid-range corded vac on raw airflow numbers.
For portable power tools, 70 CFM is more than enough. Sanders, jigsaws, and circular saws do not need maximum airflow to achieve good capture. The difference in capture rate between 70 CFM and 90 CFM is small in practice.
