Ryobi ONE+ is one of the most popular cordless platforms in North America. The 18V system covers a very large number of tools. Many of them have built-in dust ports. Getting those tools connected to a shop vac makes a huge difference in shop cleanliness.
Ryobi tools are often priced low, and customers sometimes find that cheap generic adapters fit poorly. Tool makers change port sizes between models, and port shape on budget tools can vary. Do not trust a chart. Measure the port on your own tool.
Measure Your Ryobi Tool
- Look at the dust port. Is it an opening, or a stub that sticks out?
- If it is an opening, measure across the inside with calipers or a ruler. If it is a stub, measure across the outside.
- Measure the end of your hose the same way.

Corded Tools
Ryobi also sells corded tools such as belt sanders, sheet sanders and routers. Older models may use a dust bag with a small spout. Measure the spout or port on your model the same way.
Connecting to a Shop Vac
A small shop vac hose may slide onto a tool port directly. The problem is the fit is rarely tight. Port shape varies, and a sloppy joint lets air in and kills suction.
An adapter printed to your two measurements matches the tool port on one side and the shop vac hose on the other. The result is a snug fit at both ends. Suction goes to capturing dust instead of leaking around the joint.
Connecting to a Dust Extractor
Some Ryobi owners upgrade to a Festool or Bosch dust extractor for better filtration. Extractor hose ends are not the same as shop vac hose ends. Measure the end of the extractor hose and your tool port. We print the adapter between those two numbers.
Shop Vac Tips for Ryobi Tools
A basic 6-gallon shop vac is not HEPA. Add a HEPA filter bag if you do regular sanding work.
For better dust capture, a 6 to 12 gallon shop vac with a HEPA filter and a snug adapter is a significant upgrade over no dust collection at all.
The Most Common Dust Collection Mistake
People buy a sander and assume the dust bag that comes with it is enough. The stock bag on an orbital sander captures only part of the dust. It fills fast and the fine particles escape through the bag walls.
Remove the bag. Connect a shop vac with a snug adapter. Capture improves right away. That is the single biggest improvement you can make to a cordless sander setup.
