The Craftsman CMEW231 is the Craftsman 5 in. Random Orbit Sander. The dust port on the side is round. Our PETG adapter is made to fit it.
A sander makes fine dust that hangs in the air and gets into your lungs. Pulling it right at the port keeps more of it out of the air. One end of the adapter grips the sander port. The other end takes your shop vac hose. It is a friction fit. No tape. No clamps.

Craftsman CMEW231 Dust Port: What Fits It
The dust port on the CMEW231 is round and sits on the side of the sander. Our adapter is made to fit it.
Most shop vac hoses are 1-7/8 inch or 2-1/2 inch. Neither one fits a sander port on its own. That gap is why fine dust sprays out instead of going into the hose.

How to Connect a Shop Vac to the Craftsman CMEW231
First, clear any dust out of the port. A clean port gives the best fit.
Press the tool end of the PETG adapter onto the port. It is a friction fit, so it holds with a firm push. Then press your shop vac hose onto the other end of the adapter. Turn the vac on before you start to sand.
