Makita BO6030 Sander Dust Port Size and Shop Vac Adapter
The Makita BO6030 is a 6 inch random orbit sander. It is built for smooth finishes on wide panels and long boards. Like all sanders, it makes very fine dust that floats in the air.
Makita lists the dust port at 25 mm on the inside and 31 mm on the outer cuff. Our PETG adapter plugs into the 25 mm port and steps it up to any standard shop vac or dust extractor hose. No tape. No clamps.

Makita BO6030 Dust Port Size: 25 mm Round Inlet, 31 mm Outer Cuff
Makita publishes the BO6030 dust connection as 25 mm in and 31 mm out. The 25 mm figure is the inside of the port, which is what our adapter plugs into. The 31 mm figure is the outer cuff that a hose can slip over.
Most shop vac hoses are 1-7/8 inch or 2-1/2 inch. Those are far too big for this 25 mm port. That size gap is why fine dust blows past a taped hose and into the air.
A GulpDust adapter fits the 25 mm port on one end and your bigger vac hose on the other end, so you get a tight seal and full suction at the pad.
How to Connect a Shop Vac to the Makita BO6030
Clear any dust out of the side port first. A clean port gives the best grip.
Push the small end of the PETG adapter into the 25 mm port. It is a friction fit, so it holds with a firm press. Then press your shop vac or dust extractor hose onto the wide end.
Turn the vac on before you start sanding. Running the vac while you sand catches the dust at the pad and keeps it out of the air.
Why Dust Collection Matters on a Random Orbit Sander
A random orbit sander makes very fine dust. That dust floats. It does not fall to the floor like saw chips do.
Pulling that dust at the port keeps it out of the air. It also keeps the pad clean, which helps your sandpaper last longer and cut better.
For the smoothest finish, match the adapter to the 25 mm port and run a steady vac. Any shop vac with the right adapter does the main job.
Makita BO6030 Dust Collection FAQ
What size is the dust port on the Makita BO6030?+
Makita lists it as 25 mm on the inside and 31 mm on the outer cuff. It is a round port on the side of the sander. Our adapter plugs into the 25 mm inlet.
Does the Makita BO6030 work with a regular shop vac?+
Yes, with an adapter. Most shop vac hoses are much bigger than the 25 mm port. The GulpDust PETG adapter fits the sander port on one end and your vac hose on the other.
Do I need clamps to attach the adapter?+
No. The adapter is a friction fit. You press it into the port and it holds. The vac hose end works the same way.
Why does the BO6030 need dust collection so much?+
Sanders make very fine dust that floats in the air. That dust is the kind that is bad to breathe. Pulling it at the port keeps the air clean and helps the sandpaper last longer.
Can I print this adapter myself?+
Yes. You can buy the printed PETG part shipped from the US, or download the STL file and print it at home. We suggest PETG with 3 walls and 25 percent infill.
