SawStop PCS175-PFA30 Cabinet Saw Blade-Guard Dust Port Size and Vacuum Adapter Guide

The SawStop PCS175-PFA30 is the Professional Cabinet Saw. A cabinet saw catches heavy chips in the cabinet below. The fine dust is another story. It comes off the top of the blade, right past the guard, and straight at your face.

That is what the blade-guard port is for. SawStop lists it at 1-1/4 in. (31.75 mm) inside and 1-1/2 in. (38.1 mm) outside. The saw also has a separate rear cabinet port, a nominal 4 in. size, made for a full dust collector. This page covers the guard port. A GulpDust PETG adapter fits that guard port on one end and your shop vac hose on the other end, so the top-of-blade dust goes into the vac instead of into the air. No tape. No clamps.

SawStop PCS175-PFA30 Blade-Guard Port Size: 1-1/4 in. Inside, 1-1/2 in. Outside

The dust port on the PCS blade guard is round. The inside measures 31.75 mm, which is 1-1/4 in. The outside measures 38.1 mm, which is 1-1/2 in. SawStop lists both numbers on the product page, so you can order to them without measuring.

Shop vac hoses run 1-7/8 inch or 2-1/2 inch. They do not seal on a 1-1/4 in. port by themselves. A loose hose on the guard means the fine dust slips past and hangs in the shop air.

A GulpDust adapter is printed in PETG to match the guard port on one end and your vac hose on the other end. The seal is snug, so the vac pulls the dust off the top of the blade before you breathe it.

Two Ports, Two Jobs: Guard Port vs. the 4 in. Cabinet Port

The PCS175-PFA30 splits dust collection into two lines. The rear cabinet port is a nominal 4 in. size. It handles the heavy chips that fall into the cabinet, and it is built for a dust collector with big airflow.

The blade-guard port is the small line. It is 1-1/4 in. inside, sized for a shop vac, and it grabs the fine dust at the blade before it escapes. The adapter on this page is for the guard port. If you run a dust collector on the rear port, check your collector's hose size and fit that line separately.

Run both lines and the saw stays close to dust-free. Run only the cabinet port and the fine stuff still gets in the air. The guard port is the cheap fix for the dust that matters most to your lungs.

How to Connect a Shop Vac to the PCS Blade Guard

First, wipe dust off the guard port so the adapter seats clean.

Press the adapter onto the guard port. It is a friction fit, so it holds with a firm push. Then press your shop vac hose onto the other end. Turn the vac on before the cut. Keep the hose routed so it cannot drag the guard while you feed stock.

SawStop PCS175-PFA30 Dust Collection FAQ

What size is the blade-guard dust port on the SawStop PCS175-PFA30?+

The guard port is round: 1-1/4 in. (31.75 mm) inside and 1-1/2 in. (38.1 mm) outside, per SawStop's specs. The main rear cabinet port is a separate, nominal 4 in. port.

Can I run the PCS175-PFA30 on a shop vac alone?+

A shop vac fits the guard port and does that job well. The rear cabinet port is a nominal 4 in. size made for a dust collector, and a shop vac cannot move enough air for it. Best setup: shop vac on the guard, dust collector on the cabinet.

Which port catches the fine dust?+

The blade-guard port. Fine dust comes off the top of the blade, and the guard port pulls it at the source. The cabinet port catches the heavy chips below the table.

Do I need clamps or tape to attach the adapter?+

No. The adapter is a friction fit. You push it onto the guard port and it holds. The same goes for the vac hose end.

Can I print this adapter myself?+

Yes. You can buy the printed PETG part shipped from the US, or download the STL file and print it at home. We suggest PETG with 3 walls and 25 percent infill.
