Full port and fit detail for this tool

The DeWalt DCP580B is a 20V MAX XR cordless hand planer. It shaves wood down flush and squares up edges, and it throws a steady stream of chips and dust while it cuts.

GulpDust does not have a published dust port size on file for this planer yet. A hand planer's chip chute is usually a small side-mounted outlet, and some models let you flip it to either side. Measure the chute on your own DCP580B before you order. We build the adapter to the number you give us, not to a number we found somewhere else.

DeWalt DCP580B Dust Collection: What We Know and What You Measure

A hand planer like the DCP580B ejects chips out a side chute as it cuts. GulpDust has not published a dust port size for this tool, so we are not going to guess one here.

Before you order, find the chute on your own planer and measure straight across the opening with calipers. Write down the number to the tenth of a millimeter. That is the number we print the tool end of your adapter to.

Most shop vac hoses run 1-7/8 inch or 2-1/2 inch, both much bigger than a planer chip chute. A hose taped straight to the chute usually leaks chips into the air instead of into the vac. A GulpDust adapter closes that gap once we have your real measurement.

How to Connect a Shop Vac to the DeWalt DCP580B

Measure the chip chute opening first. Use digital calipers if you have them, and measure straight across, not on an angle.

Use the GulpDust builder to send us that number along with the hose or vac size you are connecting to. We print a PETG adapter between the two.

Press the tool end onto the chute and your shop vac hose onto the other end. Turn the vac on before you start a pass.

Why a Hand Planer Needs Good Dust Collection

A planer removes a continuous ribbon of wood, so it produces a heavy, steady stream of chips and fine dust while it runs, more than most saws throw in the same amount of time.

Chips that pile up on the workpiece can jam the chute and get pushed back into the cut, which leaves marks in the wood. Pulling them away as they come off keeps the pass clean.

Running a vac also keeps fine dust out of the air in a closed shop, which matters more on a tool you run for long, continuous passes.

DeWalt DCP580B Dust Collection FAQ

Does GulpDust have the dust port size for the DeWalt DCP580B?+

Not yet. We do not have a size on file for this tool. Measure the chip chute yourself and give us that number in the builder.

Can GulpDust still build an adapter for this planer?+

Yes. Use the GulpDust builder custom path. Give us the chute measurement and your hose or vac size, and we print a PETG adapter between the two.

Where is the dust port on a DCP580B?+

Hand planers usually eject chips through a side-mounted chute, and some let you switch which side it points to. Check your own tool to see which side it uses before you measure.

What if I measure it wrong?+

Measure twice with calipers before you order, straight across the opening. If a part does not seat once it arrives, contact us and we will work it out.

Do you sell the design file?+

No. We sell the finished part. Each one is printed to order in PETG and ships from the US.
