Hercules 59313 Planer Dust Port Size and Dust Hose Adapter
The Hercules 59313 is a 12-1/2 inch portable thickness planer sold at Harbor Freight. A planer turns rough boards into smooth ones, and it makes more chips per minute than almost any other tool in the shop. A good dust hookup pulls those chips away before they pile up.
This planer ships with tool-free dust port attachments in two sizes: 2-1/2 inches (63.5 mm) and 4 inches (101.6 mm). Our adapter mates with the attachment, not the bare chute. The sizes are nominal, so measure your attachment before you buy. A GulpDust PETG adapter links it to your shop vac or dust collector hose with a simple friction fit.

Hercules 59313 Dust Port Size: 2-1/2 in and 4 in Attachments
The 59313 does not have one fixed port. It ships with tool-free dust port attachments in two sizes. The small one is 2-1/2 inches, or 63.5 mm. The big one is 4 inches, or 101.6 mm.
Use the 2-1/2 inch attachment for a shop vac. Use the 4 inch attachment for a dust collector. Our adapters mate with the attachment, not the bare chute behind it.
Both sizes are nominal, straight from the spec sheet. Real parts can run a little over or under, so measure the attachment you plan to use before you order.
How to Connect a Shop Vac or Dust Collector to the Hercules 59313
Pick the attachment that fits your setup. Small vac, small attachment. Big collector, big attachment. Snap it onto the planer, no tools needed.
Measure the attachment opening with a ruler or calipers. Then press the matching end of the PETG adapter onto it. The friction fit holds with a firm push. Press your hose onto the other end.
Run the vac or collector the whole time you plane. A planer makes a big pile of chips in seconds, and the hose only helps while it is on.
Why a Thickness Planer Needs Strong Dust Collection
A planer removes wood in wide, thin sheets. Each pass makes a burst of chips and fine dust. That is more waste per minute than a saw or sander makes.
Chips that stay in the machine can press into the wood as it feeds through and dent the surface. Pulling them out at the port keeps the cut clean and the finish smooth.
If you own a dust collector, use the 4 inch attachment for the most airflow. A shop vac on the 2-1/2 inch attachment works for small jobs. Either way, the right adapter makes the seal.
Hercules 59313 Dust Collection FAQ
What size is the dust port on the Hercules 59313?+
It ships with two tool-free attachments: 2-1/2 inches (63.5 mm) and 4 inches (101.6 mm). Those are nominal sizes, so measure the attachment before you buy an adapter.
Does the Hercules 59313 work with a regular shop vac?+
Yes. Fit the 2-1/2 inch attachment, then use an adapter to match your vac hose. Most shop vac hose ends do not seal on the attachment by themselves.
Can I hook the Hercules 59313 to a 4 inch dust collector?+
Yes. The planer includes a 4 inch (101.6 mm) attachment for dust collector hose. If your hose or fitting does not match, measure both ends and use an adapter to bridge them.
Does the adapter fit the attachment or the bare chute?+
The attachment. Snap the tool-free attachment onto the planer first, then fit the adapter to it. Do not fit the adapter to the bare chute.
Can I print this adapter myself?+
Yes. You can buy the printed PETG part shipped from the US, or download the STL file and print it at home. We suggest PETG with 3 walls and 25 percent infill.
