Makita DJV182 Jig Saw Dust Port Size and Shop Vac Adapter
The Makita DJV182 is an 18V LXT cordless jig saw. It cuts curves, holes, and shapes in wood and other stock. A jig saw drops sawdust right on the cut line, so a good dust hookup keeps your view clear and your line easy to follow.
Makita lists the dust port at 23 mm on the inside and 28 mm on the outer cuff. Our PETG adapter plugs into the 23 mm port and steps it to any standard shop vac or dust extractor hose. No tape. No clamps.

Makita DJV182 Dust Port Size: 23 mm Round Inlet, 28 mm Outer Cuff
Makita publishes the DJV182 dust connection as 23 mm in and 28 mm out. The 23 mm figure is the inside of the port, which is what our adapter plugs into. The 28 mm figure is the outer cuff that a hose can slip over.
That 23 mm size is small. A 2-1/2 inch shop vac hose is way too big to fit it, so people often tape a big hose on and lose most of the suction. That size gap is why dust leaks and the cut line stays covered.
A GulpDust adapter fits the 23 mm port on one end and your bigger vac hose on the other end, so you get a tight seal and full suction right at the blade.
How to Connect a Shop Vac to the Makita DJV182
Clear any sawdust out of the rear port first. A clean port gives the best grip.
Push the small end of the PETG adapter into the 23 mm port. It is a friction fit, so it holds with a firm press. Then press your shop vac or dust extractor hose onto the wide end.
Turn the vac on before you start the cut. Running the vac while you saw pulls the dust away so you can see your line the whole way through.
Why Jig Saws Need Good Dust Collection
A jig saw blade moves fast and dumps sawdust right on top of your cut line. When you cut a curve or follow a pattern, that dust hides the line you need to see.
Pulling the dust at the port keeps your line clear so your curves come out clean and true. It also keeps fine wood dust out of your lungs.
For the cleanest cut, match the adapter to the 23 mm port and run a steady vac. Any shop vac with the right adapter does the main job.
Makita DJV182 Dust Collection FAQ
What size is the dust port on the Makita DJV182?+
Makita lists it as 23 mm on the inside and 28 mm on the outer cuff. It is a round port at the rear of the saw. Our adapter plugs into the 23 mm inlet.
Does the Makita DJV182 work with a regular shop vac?+
Yes, with an adapter. Most shop vac hoses are 1-7/8 inch or 2-1/2 inch, which is far bigger than the 23 mm port. The GulpDust PETG adapter fits the saw port on one end and your vac hose on the other.
Do I need clamps to attach the adapter?+
No. The adapter is a friction fit. You press it into the port and it holds. The vac hose end works the same way.
Why is the jig saw port smaller than a router port?+
A jig saw makes less dust than a router, so Makita uses a smaller 23 mm port. You still want an adapter so a big vac hose seals tight instead of leaking around the small port.
Can I print this adapter myself?+
Yes. You can buy the printed PETG part shipped from the US, or download the STL file and print it at home. We suggest PETG with 3 walls and 25 percent infill.
