The Makita KP0810 is a 3-1/4 inch corded hand planer. It shaves wood fast and makes a big pile of chips. A planer does not throw fine dust like a sander. It fires curls and shavings out of the chip port, and they pile up quick.
The planer has a chip port at the rear. We print our adapter to the size you measure there. Our PETG adapter plugs into that port and steps it to any standard shop vac or dust extractor hose.

Makita KP0810 Chip Port: What Connects To It
The KP0810 has a chip port at the back of the planer. Our adapter is printed to plug into it.
A small 27 mm hose would clog fast. A big 2-1/2 inch shop vac hose does not seat right. That size gap is why chips spray out when you tape a hose on.

How to Connect a Shop Vac to the Makita KP0810
Clear any chips out of the rear port first. A clean port gives the best grip.
Push the tool end of the PETG adapter into the port. We print it to the size you measure, so it holds with a firm press. Then press your shop vac or dust extractor hose onto the other end.
Turn the vac on before you start planing. A planer makes chips fast, so run the vac the whole time to keep the port clear and stop the chips from backing up.
Why Planers Need a Strong Chip Pull
A planer does not make much fine dust. It makes big wood curls and shavings. Those chips fill a port fast and can jam it if the air flow is weak.
Pulling the chips at the port keeps the tool from clogging and keeps your bench clear. It also stops chips from flying back at your face.
For the best result, use a vac with strong air flow. A shop vac with a wide hose pulls the chips the best.

What size is the chip port on the Makita KP0810?+
Measure it with calipers. It is at the rear of the planer. Enter that number in the builder and we print the adapter to it. You pick the hose end you need.
Does the Makita KP0810 work with a regular shop vac?+
Yes, with an adapter. Most shop vac hoses are 1-7/8 inch or 2-1/2 inch, and they do not seat on this port. The GulpDust PETG adapter is sized to the planer port on one end and to your vac hose on the other.
Will a planer clog my shop vac with chips?+
A planer makes big chips, so use a vac with strong air flow and empty it often. A wide hose and a clear adapter help the chips move through without a jam.
Do I need clamps to attach the adapter?+
Usually not. We print the adapter to the size you measure, so you press it into the port and it holds. The vac hose end works the same way. Add a wrap of tape at any joint that sees heavy use.
