SKIL 3386-01 Band Saw Dust Port Size and Shop Vac Adapter
The SKIL 3386-01 is a 9 in. benchtop band saw. It has been a starter saw in home shops for years. Like every band saw, it pulls fine dust down through the table slot and packs it into the lower cabinet.
The listing states a 1-1/2 in. (38.1 mm) dust port. That is a stated size, not one we measured, so check your own port before you buy. Most shop vac hoses are bigger than that, and the mismatch is why hoses fall off. A GulpDust PETG adapter matches the port on one end and your hose on the other. No tape. No clamps.

SKIL 3386-01 Dust Port Size: 1-1/2 in. (38.1 mm) Stated, Measure to Confirm
The listing for the 3386-01 states a 1-1/2 in. (38.1 mm) dust port at the rear of the saw. That is a stated size, not a measured one. Treat it as a close guide and measure your own port before you order.
Watch the model number. SKIL's newer 9 in. band saw, the BW9501-00, moved to a 2-1/2 in. class port. The two saws look alike, so an adapter bought for one will not seal on the other. Go by the plate on your saw.
Most shop vac hoses are 1-7/8 in. or 2-1/2 in. Both are too big for a 1-1/2 in. port. A GulpDust adapter is printed to match this small port on one end and your bigger vac hose on the other, so the joint seals instead of leaking.
How to Connect a Shop Vac to the SKIL 3386-01 Band Saw
Unplug the saw first. Then wipe the dust off the rear port so the adapter can seat clean.
Press the small end of the PETG adapter into the port. It is a friction fit, so a firm push is all it takes. Then press your shop vac hose onto the wide end.
Turn the vac on before the blade touches wood. A band saw starts packing dust into the cabinet from the first inch of the cut.
Why a Small Band Saw Still Needs Dust Collection
A 9 in. band saw is a light saw, but the dust it makes is the same fine dust a big saw makes. It does not fall to the floor. It floats.
That dust also packs around the lower wheel and the blade guides inside the cabinet. A clean cabinet means less time with a brush and a screwdriver.
Pulling the dust at the port while you cut keeps the air and the saw clean. Any shop vac with the right adapter does the main job.
SKIL 3386-01 Dust Collection FAQ
What size is the dust port on the SKIL 3386-01?+
The listing states a 1-1/2 in. (38.1 mm) dust port. That is a stated size, not a measured one, so measure your own port with calipers before you buy.
Is the 3386-01 port the same as the newer SKIL BW9501?+
No. The newer BW9501-00 lists a 2-1/2 in. class port. The saws look alike, so check the model plate before you order an adapter.
Does the SKIL 3386-01 work with a regular shop vac?+
Yes, with an adapter. Most shop vac hoses are 1-7/8 in. or 2-1/2 in., which is too big for this port. The GulpDust PETG adapter fits the saw port on one end and your vac hose on the other.
Do I need clamps to attach the adapter?+
No. The adapter is a friction fit. You press it in and it holds. The vac hose end works the same way.
Can I print this adapter myself?+
Yes. You can buy the printed PETG part shipped from the US, or download the STL file and print it at home. We suggest PETG with 3 walls and 25 percent infill.
