Most shop vac hoses are 1-7/8 inch or 2-1/2 inch. Neither one fits this chute on its own. That gap is why dust blows past the hose and into the air.

How to Connect a Shop Vac to the DeWalt 20V MAX 7-1/4 Inch Circular Saw
First, look at the rear port on the saw. Wipe out any sawdust so the adapter seats clean.
If we can make an adapter for this tool, press the tool end onto the port. Then press your shop vac hose onto the other end.
Turn the vac on before you cut. Let it run for a second after each cut so the hose clears. This setup catches most of the dust at the blade instead of on the floor.

A 7-1/4 inch saw cuts a lot, so it makes a lot of chips. Pair it with a strong shop vac that can move plenty of air.
If you cut a lot, add a cyclone separator between the saw and the vac. The separator drops the heavy chips into a bucket so your vac filter stays clean longer.
Keep the hose short and straight when you can. Long, kinked hoses cut your suction and let chips settle inside.
